From East Berlin, alone in Paris, Virginia, a young unemployed actress, finds a job as a reader in a strange villa, with a blind man. Between a domineering housewife and a submissive employee who plays sadistic games, Virginia must find her place.

In order to not to go alone skiing, Michel speaks to Mrs. Paul who finds him a girl for the occasion. Inadvertently, he confuses her with Jacqueline, who is convinced he is the man that she was supposed to meet thru a matrimonial agency. Regardless, in his cottage or on the snowy slopes, Michel spends pleasant moments between his new friend, the maid Alice and a liberated couple. Meanwhile, Jacqueline dreams of stability and pairs off with the shy Eric.
Roland, a handsome forty-year old businessman, is quite fond of his lovely wife, Doris - but that doesn't stop him from taking advantage of the lovely young girls who are always attracted to him.
