A detective breaks all rules of ethical conduct while investigating a colleague’s involvement in drug pushing and Yakuza activities.

Hamakichi was a former detective respected by everyone but he was arrested after he helped a criminal flee for money, which he needed for his child’s medical treatment. Five years later, he is allowed to enter Edo with a fresh start. He make ends meet by selling toys. One day, he meets Otoki, a woman who is a lookalike of his late wife and who is being pursued by a mysterious man.

A ferry captain named Sugisaki (Takahashi Hideki) and his first officer, Kojima (Funakoshi Eiichiro), participate in a photoshoot conducted by camerawoman Yamaka Shiori (Ohama Tomoko) of the ferry. Tetsuo is a young man living in Tokyo, who falls in love with a deaf-mute factory girl. He has always felt jealous of his college-educated brother, but ultimately wins both the girl and his father's acceptance and support in a touching and refreshing way.
