After her release from prison, Katerina tries to start a new life. After some unsuccessful attempts to find a job, she manages to find work washing dishes in a children’s home. The youngest and most problematic child, Vanya, decides that Katerina is his real mother.

Andrey, a middle-aged man, can't manage to establish contact with his young son after divorce from a wife. When Andrey's father comes in between father-son relationship, the story takes an unexpected turn.
