But she only saw her father from his worst sides during his sports career and doesn't want to hear anything from him anymore. Burdenski's stubbornness and pride are not helpful here either.

But then Gwen finds a red balloon in the garden with a message from the doctor's daughter Lilly to her dead mother, who breaks her heart, because she is a half-orphan herself.
