Merridy Eastman (born 1961) is an Australian best-selling author and actress. As well as being a former Play School presenter, Merridy is familiar to Australian television viewers from her major roles in Neighbours, Blue Heelers, Always Greener, and Packed to the Rafters. A NIDA graduate, Merridy has performed in theatrical productions for the Melbourne and Sydney Theatre Companies, among others, and spent several summers leaping about botanical gardens across Australia, bringing Shakespeare to the masses.

Spitteri finds himself locked up in an immigration detention centre upon his return to Australia. With old enemies on his tail and a target on his back, he navigates a series of comedic misadventures, sharing with his fellow detainees the meaning of mateship and what it is to be truly Australian.

The Lady Gorillas are a down-and-out basketball team from the country town of Goondi. They are at the bottom of the regional basketball ladder and are scheduled to play the last match of the season against The Sharks, who are not only at the top of the ladder, but are also mean and dirty players. There are five main players for the Lady Gorillas, and they're a hopeless lot, covering the gamut of 'social problems'. The last match of the season is about to commence, and the Lady Gorilla's coach, Graham, has no reason to think that for once, just for once, the Lady Gorillas might win!
