A jobless unambitious and lonely Suvo and a lonely teacher Mistu live in the same locality. In Suvo`s imagination, they meet and talk every day. But when she gets married to Somnath, he is hurt. Believing their meetings were true, he still waits for her in his dream and reality. In reality, she hangs herself.

While awaiting the consequences, they try out desperate measures to fulfil their long-cherished wish. Inspired from a true story, this film explores the life of the couple, through contemplative aesthetics, who exhausted by their present, pursue a shared belief that challenges the status quo.

Tokhon Kuasa Chilo revolves around Akhilbabu, an aged schoolteacher, and his two students. One of them, Sachin, grows to become a political goon while Putu, the other, remains unemployed. When Sachin tries bullying Akhilbabu into letting him marry his granddaughter, the professor turns to Putu for help.

Based on the timeless literary work by Manik Bandyopadhyay, Padma Nadir Majhi was directed by Gautam Ghosh. The movie illustrates the tumultuous lives of the fishermen and their families, living by the river Padma. Beautiful shots of the river, Ghosh's flair for realism and brilliant display of acting skills by noted actors of Bangladesh and West Bengal, including Utpal Dutt, Robi Ghosh, Abul Khayer, Raisul Islam Asad, Champa, and Rupa Ganguli, fetched the movie local and international honours.
