At the height of the second Intifada, Ruty witnesses a suicide attack that pushes her to the brink. Unwilling to live in a constant state of anxiety, she decides to protect her husband, teenaged daughter and soldier son by barricading their home while they sleep. She plans to keep them there “until there is peace”. Disconnected from the outside world, the family is forced to communicate with each other, and tensions brewing over the years begin to surface. Director Aner Preminger offers a keenly-observed family drama that resonates beyond Israel’s political context.
Raziya, a 70 year old woman who lives on a moshav, and whose dream is basically having another grandson or two, embarks on a mission to save her son’s marriage, after he left home following a bitter argument with his wife. She drags her husband Yitzhakal’he along on a crazy adventure of two innocent moshav dwellers in the big city. She isn’t particularly healthy, nor is she young, but her maternal worries give her strengths of which she herself was unaware.
When the Chef, Noam Amir, a meteor in the sky of the culinary scene, gets caught in debt right before opening his new Bistro in Paris, the spirit of his deceased father, Moshiko – The owner of the legendary "The Big Moshiko's Hummus Place", appears before him and offers him an offer he can't decline. With that Noam finds himself returning to his childhood home, to the family he left behind and to the Hummus place he hates so much.
