Manoj Mitra (22 December 1938—12 November 2024) was an Indian theatre, film and television actor, director and playwright. It was at Scottish Church College, Kolkata that he got initiated to theatre. There were regular shows at the college where the likes of Badal Sarkar, Rudraprasad Sengupta and others were students. He did his M.A. in philosophy from the University of Calcutta and began research for a doctorate. But by then he and friends like theatre and film director Partha Pratim Chowdhury had begun the group Sundaram. He began by teaching philosophy in the Suri Vidyasagar College (only one day) and later joined the drama department at the Rabindra Bharati University, where he became the head of department and retired as Sisirkumar Bhaduri professor of the University. But by then he was a leading playwright of West Bengal. He was writing, directing and acting in plays. His first play Bogol Dhiman won him first prize at the statewide competition. He has written over a hundred plays like Sajano Bagaan, Chokhe Angul Dada, Kaalbihongo, Parabas, Alokanandar Putra Kanya, Narak Guljar, Aswathama, Chakbhanga Madhu, Mesh O Rakhash, Noisho Bhoj, Chhayar Prashad, Galpo Hekim Saheb, Rajdarshan, Debi Swarpamasta, Munni O Saat Chowkidar, Ranger haat, Ja Nei Bharatey. While most of these plays were produced by Sundaram, Bohurupee etc. He also played a soulful role in the movie "Hothat Bristy" (Sudden Rain) in 1998 produced by both Bangladesh & India. His works have been translated into many languages. Mitra has written several books on film and theatre. He was the President of the Paschim Banga Natya Akademi from which he resigned citing health issues in August 2019.

Inspector Ashok Sharma is assigned to take over as Inspector In-Charge of a remote police station, which he does. Upon his arrival there, he comes to the rescue of a blind man and a widow, and has a fist fight with Nishikant Shah and his men. The next day, Shah finds out that the person his men fought with is no other than the new Inspector In-charge, and he goes to pay homage, but Ashok refuses. Then Shah and the local MLA spin a web of lies and deceit, in which Ashok is accused of killing a man in custody, and as a result he may face criminal charges and also lose his job.
A love story of a rowdy and rugged Shubho and an educated and graceful Shaon. This totally opposite couple overcomes their differences and saves their marriage.

Ananta Das is a normal middle class man like any other common man. Everyday he avails the 8:08 A.M Bongaon Local to Kolkata to attain his office. Some known and unknown common people are his companions throughout his journey everyday. He has seen many incidents, which created a deep impression in his life. One such incident was the murder of a brother who protested against a group of drunkards who were teasing his elder sister ("Rajiv murder case in Barasat"). Preliminarily he remained silent against all these incidents. But on one day, his protesting nature, inside him, burst out. He started protesting against each and every wrong deed, irrespective of the level of crime. As a result he stands out as a protesting person in front of other common people. He turns out to be the target of the leaders of the society.
On the wedding day, Ujjal abandons Ishani and marries Anjali. After many years, due to the burden of his wrongdoings, Ujjal decides to leave the house and his family.
