Bou Thakuranir Haat is a Bengali drama film directed by Naresh Mitra based on a novel of Rabindranath Tagore in the same name, published in 1883. The film is based on the real-life story of Jessore Raj Pratapaditya. Pratapaditya is described as an antagonist more than a protagonist in this film.

"Ajante" is the story of a simple innocent man Ravi who falls in love with Usha not knowing that she is the very girl whose marriage he is trying to finalize with a high society guy Rudraksh. After Ravi's father's death, his elder brother usurps everything giving him a couple of rooms in the servants' quarter and 1 lakh rupees that his father had given as a loan to Mr. Natu. Mr. Natu is a cunning man who keeps delaying Ravi. He finally promises to give him the money if Ravi can get Jhilik married to Rudraksh. Rudraksh is a man full of vices yet Ravi does his best to finalize the wedding. Ravi meets Usha aka Jhilik and falls in love with her. Ravi finds out the truth that Usha is Jhilik the day Rudrasksh goes to marry her. Usha condemns Ravi for his cowardice and that makes him defy everything and marry her. Rudraksh and his family are arrested for claiming dowry."

Ambernath a well-educated Sanskrit pundit was different from his childhood. The way he thought and described everything was quite different from others. His master Jagannath Tarka Churamoni loved him a lot and after his death, Ambernath took his place. In such a situation Bani the daughter of local zamindar and Ambernath met. The movie revolves around the unwanted incidents that happened in the princely state of Ratnagarh. After the murder of King Chandrakanta, one Dr. Palit (Kamal Mitra) asked for help from one Detective Smarajit Sen (Sisir Batabyal), as a family friend. Detective Sen sent his assistant Bimal to Ratnagarh to investigate and ascertain the security of young Kumar Bahadur, a new predecessor of the royal family of the estate. They observed that a mysterious lady Manjusri (Manju De) sang an uncanny song in the adjacent water body near the palace. Mr. Gupta (Bikash Roy), a suspicious botanist who stayed in the neighborhood also roamed in that locality. It revealed that he was deprived of the real property of the royal family and took revenge by killing the members of the family. He used one deaf and dumb porter as a hired killer. Ultimately, he was killed by the detective at the end before he could commit another murder.
