Frank dreams of fame as a successful writer, while his partner Akim dreams of having a child together. Then fate comes to his aid: Frank meets the charismatic Kathrin and makes her the heroine of his new novel.
Like every morning, Linda sits at the breakfast table with her children. But there's a catch: Dad hasn't been sitting at the table with his family for a long time. Instead, Fritz is sleeping in the camper van in the garden. While Linda hopes that the two of them will soon find their way back to each other, all signs point to separation for Fritz.
Suddenly the Russian Galina reappears in her ex-boyfriend Tom's life and asks him to contact his sister, who heads the crisis team at the Foreign Office. Galina offers herself as a whistleblower to Germany after hackers specifically attacked the computer systems of the Berlin Central Hospital. She has the code that can thwart further attacks, but in return she demands money, asylum and inclusion in a witness protection program for herself and her young daughter.
Out of the blue, actress Anna loses her job at a small municipal theater. Having just been on stage, she now finds herself in the dreariness of the local job center. At the insistence of her theater-enthusiastic caseworker, she takes over the management of an acting course for eight long-term unemployed people who are difficult to place. Despite enormous resistance to the compulsory training program, the frustrated lone fighters increasingly form a close-knit group with whom Anna stages Antigone. Surprisingly, the participants' private dramas become more and more turbulent and Anna also experiences a new beginning that she hadn't expected.
A silent storm unleashes itself in the soul of Anna, a seemingly quiet girl who lives in a city with a river running through it. Anna lets things wash over her, never joining in, submerged as she is in a lethargy that she'll have to do something about.

She writes endless text messages, he tells her what's going on in a nutshell, she's always in the mood for sex, he loves hiking in the mountains with his buddy, she repairs the bike herself, but he doesn't have the time. Nevertheless, the two are a couple, but very often ask themselves why, argue, make up and break up.

The two friends Marie and Hannah spend a vacation together in Italy. While Hannah has just been divorced, the fun-loving Marie throws herself into an affair with the Viennese surgeon Xavier Gruber. However, he only wants a vacation flirtation without consequences - and leaves her the business card of car mechanic Xavier Martin, which he received by chance, when he leaves unexpectedly. Back in Germany, Marie begins to write ardent love letters to the supposed doctor in Vienna. The shy mechanic is initially amused, but eventually falls in love with the letter writer and confesses his feelings to her without clearing up the misunderstanding.
Upon being informed that he is fatally ill with cancer, Max, who works at a used car store, steals money which his boss has gained through illegal means. When fleeing from the scene of the crime Max crashes his car. He is pulled unconscious from the destroyed vehicle by a homely young woman, Emma, who lives alone on a farm where Max decides to stay in order to hide from the police and his boss.
