An industry research director, Isomura, is killed in a suspected hit-and-run, but his employee, Hinuma, believes it was murder, not an accident.

Kokubu, captain of his university's kendo team, is a mystery to those who know him: An ascetic dedicated to a point of obsession with the simplicity and beauty of the sword arts. Kagawa, a promising but arrogant kendo student, is attracted to Kokubu's devout leadership but kept at a distance by his standoffish nature. With the national championships fast approaching, the pair clash as Kokubu drives his students with increasingly rigorous training and Kagawa tests Kokubu's grip on the class.

Ide of the Kokusai Rayon Company visits a supermarket and finds cheap shirts being passed off as his company's products. But a closer look reveals that the last letter of "Kokusai" has been changed to "n" and reads "Kokusan." The buyers, however, are all under the impression that they are buying Kokusai shirts. Ide begins an investigation to find out where the shirts are being made, but before he is able to uncover anything, he is killed on a train and his little black book, filled with secret data, is stolen. Sugino then starts a one-man search for both the killer and the factory turning out the cheap shirts.

Fujiko Niwa, a nurse, is in love with Dr. Suga, but fear clutches her heart when she overhears that Reiko, the Director's daughter, is coming to the hospital to see the man she hopes to marry.

A bright and cheerful story about a young girl who comes to Tokyo from the countryside, relying on her aunt to become a maid, and willingly aspires to become a maid and lives a healthy life despite the hardships she encounters with people from all walks of life. Ririko Tachibana moved to Tokyo in reliance on her aunt Motoko, who lives in Tokyo. When Ririko leaves her classmate Chizuko Misawa, who says she is going to rely on jazz singer Michi Nozoe, and arrives at her aunt's house, she is disappointed to find that a job has been arranged for her as a nanny. Her dream of attending night high school was dashed, but Ririko made up her mind to do her best to do as much as she could. The Honbashi family, where she was employed, lived alone with the widow Shinae, and Mrs Shinae was asked to go to her daughters' house to help out...
