A biographical novella based on I. Vsevolzhsky's novel "Hutor's Team".

The end of the 50s. The former head of the department Bulygin is sent from Moscow to Siberia to build a bridge across the Severnaya River. With him goes his family: his wife, son, daughter and his daughter's fiancé. Once an experienced builder, and now just an overbearing official, Bulygin cannot find common ground with the workers, and people begin to leave the construction site. However, after many experiences and mental trials Bulygin regains the features of a skillful leader.

This time he investigates a complex case of missing rafts with wood, about the fight loggers with foreman Chubatov and a fire at the timber warehouse. All three cases are in one bundle: the intruders are trying to blame everything on the foreman. But Serezhkin is an experienced detective to figure it all out and save an honest man from prison.

Peter the Great takes a Russian man of African heritage - Ibrahim Petrovich Hannibal - under his wing as the tsar builds his grand navy. After having a disastrous affair in France, Ibrahim vows to never fall in love again, until he sees the daughter of a wealthy boyar. Peter the Great insists the two be married, but Ibrahim goes against the tsar's wishes, refusing to force her to marry him since she doesn't consent. When another man tries to marry her, however, Ibrahim's loyalties and generous nature are put to the test.

The Second World War has ended. With the victory in Moscow, front-line friends, Antonina, Fyodor and Alexey, move into Fyodor’s huge apartment, which was empty in the first years of the war, when his wife left him. Alexey loved Antonina all his life, but when he found out that she loved Fedor, he immediately left for his homeland, and Fedor’s wife unexpectedly returned.
