Returning from a vacation in Spain in September, Agathe, a dental technician, and her husband Alexandre, a salesman, break down on a deserted stretch of freeway. They are then forced to follow a mechanic who appears out of nowhere. Towed to an isolated camp in the middle of nowhere, the couple discovers a family composed of six adopted children, all approximately 25 years old and of different origins. Forced to wait for the car's engine to be repaired, the vacationers participate in spite of themselves and for a few hours in their community life.

To regain the one he loves and his children, Alex Meyer, composer and director of musicals, hard hit by his marital breakdown dating back three years, decides to rebuild himself.

Sandrine, a former fashion designer who is unemployed, is now working in a garment factory as a worker. There she meets Mathieu, the company's human resources manager and a former childhood sweetheart. In Montreal, the unemployed fashion designer Sophie Malaterre is shown a website, switch.com, where it is possible to switch houses with a stranger for vacation. Sophie seeks an apartment in Paris nearby the Eiffel Tower that belongs to Bénédicte Serteaux and they change apartments. Sophie arrives in Paris on Saturday morning. The next morning, policemen break in the apartment and arrest Sophie while she is having a bath. Detective Damien Forgeat interrogates Sophie believing that she is Bénédicte and she learns that a beheaded body was found in her room and all evidence of her life has been deleted.

French comedy

A playwright of note, Darius developed a drinking problem after his first major hit, and has taken time out from writing his follow-up to go to a clinic and dry out. After his release, Darius finds his producer has hired a leading lady for his next show, booked the theater and advertised the starting date -- all without Darius writing so much as a word of this new play. Darius desperately tries to come up with ideas, but nothing comes to mind, with an inflexible deadline staring him in the face. One day, Darius kills a neighbor's cat by accident; terribly depressed, he swallows some sedatives and falls asleep at his computer -- only to awake with the beginning of his play glowing on the screen. Darius is now convinced he must kill in order to create, and starts murdering an ever-expanding variety of creatures in order to satisfy his now bloodthirsty muse.
