A woman, standing motionless in a parking lot, seems to be waiting for a sign. A look back at her difficult past.

Sarah is on a beach to be photographed by Mathieu, her friend/amateur photographer/bag carrier. Mathieu can't take it anymore. Sarah wants to take more photos. Mathieu refuses and breaks down.

In 1963, Esther gives birth to Roland, the youngest of a large family. Roland is born with a club foot that prevents him from standing.
