Su-jin who tries to pursue a perfect life as a successful lawyer, single mother and daughter, plans to send her daughter Gina to study abroad in the United States, where her ex-husband lives. When Su-jin gets busier with work, Su-jin's dad, In-woo moves in to help Su-jin take care of Gina. The three live together for some time, until one day, Su-jin gets into a car accident and receives an unexpected diagnosis.

In 1997, when the Asian financial crisis hit Korea, Gukbo, the number one Soju company is on the brink of bankruptcy. In the high-stakes market of M&A, In-beom, a young ambitious associate at global investment firm Solquin, heads back home to take Gukbo as his first target. Hiding his greediness, In-beom approaches Jong-rok, an executive loyal to Gukbo, as an innocent consultant aiming to rehabilitate Gukbo. While In-beom digs deeper into Gukbo, he finds this may lead to an unlikely outcome.

Set against the backdrop of the Jeju Uprising in 1948, which was sparked by an armed revolt of islanders fearing the division of Korea into North and South, the film portrays the tragic consequences of an indiscriminate punitive expedition by the South Korean government. Under the guise of an anti-communist campaign, more than 25,000 civilians were slaughtered. Through the story of a mother fiercely protecting her young daughter, the film highlights the resilience and strength of Jeju women amidst the chaos.

One day, his legendary first love Bo-na, the girl he never even had the courage to confess to before she suddenly disappeared, unexpectedly reappears in his life. From that moment on, Seung-min's heart begins to race again. But as old feelings resurface, he finds himself trapped in an awkward predicament: a secret he must never let his first love discover… no matter what.
