In a quaint village nestled in the West Vietnam, Mr. Sau Seu, a karaoke cafe owner, resides alone, eagerly awaiting his son Ut Tung’s return from Saigon for a visit. However, his hopes are shattered when he discovers he has a grave illness. To fulfill his promise to his late wife, he decides to “marry his son off.” However, this plan takes an unexpected turn when he learns that Tung has a shocking secret and is concealing it. Amidst conflicts, misunderstandings, and attempts at reconciliation, father and son gradually gain a deeper understanding of each other. Ultimately, they find happiness and peace in their own unique marriages.
Crushed by extreme poverty and haunted by the fear of losing another child after a miscarriage, the lives of Phú and his pregnant wife Thảo spiral further into darkness when Phú’s mother, Mrs. Thuận, dies because the family cannot afford her medical treatment. In desperation, Thảo follows the advice of Mrs. Tánh—a neighbor who performs spiritual rituals—and summons a wandering spirit to become a household ghost, believing it will protect their home and unborn child. But when the entity hidden within the corner of the house begins to demand its debt, Thảo realizes in horror that the thing she invited in to save her family is, in fact, a nightmare with no escape.
