Hosted by Bill and Gloria Gaither and filmed on the magnificent grounds of the Billy Graham Library, this quintessential Tent Revival Homecoming features more than 140 of gospel music's most beloved artists. With sawdust floors, a simple canvas canopy overhead and songs that recapture the spirit of the old-fashioned tent revivals of the 1950s and 1960s, this Homecoming gathering celebrates a time-honored tradition that has impacted countless lives for eternity.

Matthew was born with a silver spoon in his mouth that allows him to obtain his degree in theology from Harvard and land a sweet and lucrative pastoral gig that gives him freedom to recreate to his heart’s content. His new $74,000 Cadillac, which he dubs “White Lightning” is the pride of his considerable possessions. Matthew is also proud of his very upscale church in Tennessee. When God sends him a dream in the night, he has to reconsider his priorities in life. The nocturnal vision leads him to a local faith based drug/alcohol rehab center operated by Mission Teens. While Matthew is trying to determine a road map for his life, two substance abusers in the Heartland are trying to avoid being sent to an obscure community in Tennessee for rehabilitation. Circumstances put both Shane and Susan on the same bus, headed to Davy Crockett country and a rendezvous with a proud young pastor, Cupid, and the Holy Spirit

Pastor Luke Wolfe is a man with a mission: to close down the rest of the churches in town and to build a facility that will be the gem of the community. He also aims to put a wedding ring on the hand of his church's pianist, the most attractive eligible woman in town. His plans hiccup when Pastor Evan Shephard arrives in town and rents the vacant church building formerly known as Old Rugged Cross. Not only does Wolfe have a new rival for the piano player's affection, but also for the hearts of the citizens of the town he desires to dominate, including his own son, the youth pastor of his mega church.

The Homecoming Friends recall Christmases long, long ago, while showcasing familiar Christmas Carols and new Gaither-penned songs like "Come And See What's Happenin'." The Old Friends Quartet fronted by Jake Hess and George Younce makes its debut, and Bill pays tribute to the pioneers of Southern Gospel music. "What A Wonderful World," performed by Russ Taff, is dedicated to the memory of Homecoming regular Bob Cain.
