Two brothers wait for their father to come back from the front. When they saw the effect that black letters which were then called death notices had on the recipients they talked the postman into hiding those letters until the end of the war.

However, the difficult financial situation forces Jigo to go to Mozdok, where he is going to exchange cheese for grain with his kunak, the Terek Cossack Stepan. He loads the cart and, together with his nephew, goes to the Russian fortress.

A group of amateur climbers is searching in the mountains for a figurine of a golden goddess, the location of which is encrypted in a map. One of the groups disappears, and with it the diaries, which may contain a decoding of the location of the treasure. After some time, the climbing friends meet again at the mountain hotel where they once began their search. As it turned out, someone really doesn’t want the search for the map and the missing climbers to continue...
