Bremner and his boxing mates are determined to have fun, cause mischief, make money and resurrect their faltering amateur boxing careers. Desperate to make a better life for his baby daughter, Bremner seeks the approval of others. Unemployment, family problems, drug dealers depression, crime and suicidal urges prove to be bigger opponents than anything faced in a boxing ring.
