A short film that explores the complexities of the black gay coming out experience through the eyes of young Dolcie a Black British gay boy of Caribbean heritage as he faces the struggles of fitting in with a community posing strong cultural homophobic beliefs. Set against the backdrop of a dancehall black gay clubbing scene a homophobic song being played triggers Dolcie to remember a series of intense past memories that were influential in setting him on the path to becoming an openly Black gay man.
Even Salt Looks Like Sugar follows brothers Sam & Noah as they face the dawn of a new day, the morning after murdering their Father. The film is set the morning after a massive family event, where the boys murder their dad. Navigating addiction, trauma, love & redemption in a story ultimately about the search for identity.
A chance encounter at a launderette sparks a meaningful connection between Vinnie and Ryan. As closeness blurs into desire, they are forced to confront what love demands before it fractures everything they have built.
