A free screen adaptation of Part 1 of Old Stender's "High Wisdom from the World and Nature". The outskirts of the Duchy of Courland-Nemesgal, second half of the 18th century, serfdom not yet abolished. The pastor, writer and scientist Gotthard Friedrich Stender lives among superstitious Latvians, passionately trying to understand them, enlighten them and bring them to their senses. To this end, he writes a book about the way the world is ordered.

He offers Cleo the biggest role of her career - The Bride in Federico Garcia Lorca’s “Blood wedding”. Cleo tries to turn her life around, but her co-dependent boyfriend starts to slip back into his old, self-destructive ways, and the director wants from the actress more than just her talent.
