In this Japanese retelling of Cinderella, Okuro (Takayama) is the unfortunate stepdaughter of a family of tanuki: shape-shifting raccoon dogs. She hopes to see the tanuki prince (former Takarazuka star Miyagi) against her stepmother's wishes; the magical spirit of the willow tree, and a hapless kappa (water goblin) intercede in unexpected ways.
Based on Japanese author Toshitaro Takeda's novel of the same name, the film centers around Takako, who unveils a past relationship between her husband and her best friend, and a child of theirs.
Asako Miura grew up in a wealthy family, but she rebelled against her mother Sawako's adulterous relationship with Akagi, a boss who controlled the underworld, and joined a gang of delinquent girls. Now, she spends her days acting like a queen, surrounded by many teenage yakuza.
