In Belgium today, a young boy and an adolescent girl who have travelled alone from Africa pit their invincible friendship against the difficult conditions of their exile.

In the treacherous and swampy forests that make up the so called “green border” between Belarus and Poland, refugees from the Middle East and Africa trying to reach the European Union are trapped in a geopolitical crisis cynically engineered by Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko. In an attempt to provoke Europe, refugees are lured to the border by propaganda promising easy passage to the EU. Pawns in this hidden war, the lives of Julia, a newly minted activist who has given up her comfortable life, Jan, a young border guard, and a Syrian family intertwine.

Denis Mukwege, a Congolese doctor, pastor and future Nobel Peace Prize laureate, meets Guy Cadière, a Belgian surgeon and atheist. Despite their differences, they unite for a common purpose: to restore the bodies and dignity of thousands of women who have been used as weapons of war in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.

When her relationship abroad falls apart, Julia returns to Belgium. She tries to build a new life for herself in Brussels as a casting director in the advertising industry. Lonely in an unfamiliar city and wrestling with a broken heart, she keeps up appearances and immerses herself in her new job. Her encounter with Eliott makes her realize that she doesn’t know who she really is.

In this hybrid documentary, we follow 14-year-old Joely and 17-year-old Souli. These two young people from Brussels come from different backgrounds, but together they talk candidly about their first love experiences. For two months, they shot their own footage with a camera. These result in an intimate and unfiltered film about how love and being young blend seamlessly.

Housed in a shelter for young mothers, Jessica, Perla, Julia, Ariane, and Naïma, all of whom have grown up in difficult circumstances, struggle to obtain a better life for themselves and their children.
