This is a film that showing the epic battle and struggle a group of uneducated villagers went through to get its independence back in 1948 and its discusses a "secret" what happened between 1947 November and to talk about how Sri Lanka got its independence in 1948.

Rathane Aiya lives in the neighborhood with a mother and two sons Jayasena and Siripala. The day before the Poya, Siripala kills his older brother. Rathne is the prime suspect and arrested. He is sentenced to death on the gallows. While awaiting death, he confesses his bad behavior during his past. He thrived in terrorizing the village with ill-gotten money and power. He came there to evade punishment for a double murder. Since then he has tried to live a good life, putting his past behind him, becoming a 'good Samaritan' who is respected by all.

Two friends, Manoj (Gihan De Chickera), a bartender, and Stanley (Dharmapriya Dias), a fruit vendor, wish to immigrate to the West to seek their fortune, but have difficulties getting their visa applications approved. They come across an application to a handball tournament in Bavaria, and not even knowing what the game is, they submit themselves and a group of friends as the "Sri Lanka National Handball Team". For appearance's sake, they begin minimal training and then seek travel visas from the German Embassy. Their plans to simply escape into the West upon arrival in Germany are thwarted by the quick appearance of the tournament organizers and an arena of fans eager to see the prowess of the Sri Lanka National Handball Team.

A police officer, constable Punyasoma hunts an underworld gangster who is involved in a kidnapping of a rich woman.

Malan is a jobless 25 year-old youth who spends his days playing cricket with friends. He suffers from an irrational fear of ghosts and retreats to the safety of his home after sunset. His fear is so great he prefers to sleep with his widowed mother Geetha and have her accompany him to the bathroom at night, and also at the eating time. This creates major annoyance in the household, including Malan's brother Gamini, sister-in-law Nirmala and their children.
