Vietnam veteran Billy Ray Lancing, a former CSA agent who now works on a wildlife refuge in Northern Alaska, has been exchanging letters in a pen-pal relationship with Irina Morawska, a 13-year-old orphaned girl in Poland that he's helping out financially. When the letters suddenly stop coming, Billy heads to Poland to figure out why -- only to discover that the orphanage that Irina was staying in, which is financed by honest -- and unsuspecting -- good-intentioned Samaritans, is a cover for a human trafficking network.

The story begins in March of 1968, the days of students protests. A hot- headed student protests the Dean's decision to expell a fellow student on fake accusation charges, upon which he drops out of university rather than make a compromise. He loses everything in the process: his girlfriend, housing privileges - he becomes a coal deliverer. On the job he witnesses an accident that causes death of a fellow worker. He decides to write a story, which is good and a publishing house wants to print it, but only after some corrections are made. He refuses again and the story is not printed. Finally, a story is commercialized and made into a succesful film and brings fame to the original author.

The hero of this perverse comedy is Jerzy, a completely incurable romantic, who finds the love of his life in the voice coming from the navigation system in his car. Jerzy is a gadget-head, and loves all kinds of electronic devices – he gives them names, and then talks to them. This makes him fall in love with Carmen – the voice from his car-navigation system.

His crimes lead to an uprising of his subjects lead by the former commander of Popiel's army, Piastun, and a young hunter and warrior, Ziemowit. Meanwhile Ziemowit falls in love with Dziwa, lovely girl who is to become a priestess in the local temple ...

A psychological study of a successful man, completely devoted to his professional work, for whom the first vacation in years becomes an opportunity to reflect on the illusory value of civilizational progress, opposed to the purity and harmony of the natural world, and to compare his own life with the model of others. Stefan is in charge of the construction of a large investment. He fears imminent old age. He visits a friend who lives in a mountain solitude. They witness a tragic accident - a young mountaineer falls off a cliff. They bring help. Stefan notices the emptiness of his family life. His wife wants to leave him, he still believes in the possibility of saving their marriage. During a trip together they get into a car accident. An encounter with Stefan's son, Andrew, occurs, forcing him to make a harsh assessment of his life.

The film is about the suffering of a woman who is looking for her sons - about the tragedy of loneliness. It shows what war is for Russian society today, about the changes that have occurred in the mentality of an average citizen.
Nino, a baker's apprentice from the kingdom of Lailonia, has a very beautiful face. He notices that wrinkles are appearing on it. He borrows money from the court and buys a trunk of immutability. He hides his beautiful face in the trunk and henceforth lives without a face. He claims that only by storing his face in the trunk of immutability can he ensure its eternal youth and immortal beauty. The neighbor demands the loan back. So Nino pawns his beautiful face in a pawnshop. He receives a sum less than he borrowed. He cannot repay the debt and is thrown in jail for many years. The owner of the pawnshop, not having lived to see Nino's return, takes his beautiful face out of his trunk and gives it to the children to play with as a ball. Only the imprisoned Nino thinks he has the most beautiful face in the world.
