Juana and Carmela, two pregnant women, go out for help from the peripheral neighborhood where they live to hospitals in two cities on the border between Argentina and Brazil.
Joana, a 30-year-old woman, returns to the rural settlement in Paraná where she spent her childhood to work as a teacher. Her homecoming compels her to confront long-buried memories, including the murder of her father by landowners amid the region’s conflict over land rights. Dance of the Fireflies is a poetic reflection on emotional landscapes, flickers of history, fragments of collective memory, and the social struggle in the countryside.
Northern Paraná, Brasil, 1977. Ângelo Gambellini, a journalist and owner of the controversial sensationalist newspaper "O Tibagi," built his reputation using unconventional methods of police investigation. The theft of a tractor from Tadao Yamamoto's farm sparks a rivalry between Gambellini and Detective Polaco, both determined to solve the mystery according to their own interests.
