On a small green island out in the sea, they live in harmony - until a stranger comes. Like a hurricane this rocks the small society, and a killing lets all hidden forces loose.

Two women share a room in a hospital. One has just given birth to a stillborn child, the other has had her ovaries removed. Bonding over their trauma, past and present, both women in turn taking care of the other, they become friends and try to help each other upon leaving the hospital.

She represents a Hong Kong group that is looking for a place where they can develop their energy consuming cosmetics industries.

The eight children Maren, Martin, Marte, Mads, Mona, Milly, Mina and Morten Minstemann, live with their parents in a tiny apartment in the city. Grandmother lives in the country side, but one day she comes to town for a visit. Everything is new and unusual for her, and she doesn't act like other people in the city. However, the children helps her out and they go for a trolley ride. When it's time for Grandmother to go back home she has no money for the train ticket. She spent her money on kitchen supplies, and now the children tries to come up with a plan to get her home. Easier said than done

Following political upheaval, traditionally poor countries have stopped exporting raw materials. The Western world is entering an economic crisis, which is rapidly spreading to Norway. Unemployment rises sharply, and it becomes more difficult to obtain food. The government does not officially acknowledge the crisis, but fear spreads among the population. Demonstrations between the population and the police are now a daily occurrence. Thomas and Vera are also unemployed. The only way out of their predicament is to move out of the city and rent an abandoned farm. The sale of food is banned. Military forces arrive to confiscate what little they have. Later, the city population follows, traveling to the countryside in panic to secure something to eat.

Out on the country there is bad cellphone reception, cow smell and inbreed farmers as far as the eye can see. The family Volvo get stolen and the foreigners in the small town automatically gets blamed. From there is a chase to discover what truly happened...
