The drama of the last days of the second world war through the eyes of children in rural areas.
On Christmas Eve 1944, the devout Kubis family gathers under one roof despite divided loyalties: their youngest is a partisan, the eldest a guard, the daughter an Aryanization beneficiary, they sit with a Nazi guest, and the prospective bride is a communist. As the war’s end draws near and the front collapses, conflicting convictions and survival instincts force the family to confront moral compromises and the inevitability of sacrifice. What will each confess at midnight mass when duty to family, faith, and conscience collide?
This time our holiday heroes will go skiing together in the mountains. They have everything planned and can't wait to ski with the kids and relax in the hotel spa. But it wouldn't be a holiday if everything went like clockwork. Especially with Jano Jančich taking care of the accommodation and the programme. So instead of a relaxing holiday in a Tatra hotel, our families will experience unexpected adventures in a cottage and in seclusion. Before that, however, we will see how they experience Christmas Eve. Even that will not be without surprises...
