Hella is around 30 and works in a pharmacy. She is waiting for the right man to step into her life, but as she has a certain affinity for losers, she is kind of disillusionized. When she gets to know Levin, a dentist student who likes cars most, her dreams seem to come true. Levin has a very rich grandfather who likes her at first glance. The old man thinks of changing his last will to the condition that Levin has to marry Hella in order to inherit his fortunes. Like in a fairy-tale the door to a new life opens for Hella, but can she take it?

Doro is young, beautiful and a trained opera singer that gets by with occasional jobs. Her neighbour, a former criminal detective, is dying and she cares for him in his last moments. His dying wish is to see his son Michael. Doro fulfills the old man's wish and they meet for the first time since twenty years.

Produced and directed by seven Munich Film School students, Honolulu takes place not in Hawaii, but inside of a rural town just outside of Munich, Germany. Several vignettes, lasting approximately 10 to 15 minutes each, are connected by one of the town’s public bus routes, outside of which two men booze the night away while waiting for the bus to make its rounds.

Two wanderers come across a hypnotic water pit in a dry desert. The water pit is now the trigger for an all-encompassing conflict: should they settle down or keep on wandering?

While playing at a lake, Nina is attacked by a gang of thugs and pushed under water - according to the doctor's diagnosis, the eleven-year-old is physically perfectly healthy, but has suffered severe trauma. After her parents Claire and Daniel have consulted several psychologists, dolphin therapy seems to be the only promising method of treatment. The whole family flies to a therapy center in Florida. Nina actually makes contact with the dolphin Domino, a notorious loner. When Nina observes how Domino is lured into the open sea by fishermen at night, the sick girl surpasses herself.

The airline "Dream Air" is on the verge of bankruptcy - as the flight of another airline is overbooked, the airline is naturally happy to help out the competition and so the experienced pilot Hans Krüger takes off with the young co-pilot Conny Neudorff - despite warnings from the mechanics.

What use is a good Abitur if the climate is changing? For 17-year-old high school student Lilly, there are more important things than school. It looks correspondingly bleak with their admission to the Abitur! While father Martin fails with a bang to lure her with a dream trip, mother Nina makes an unusual deal: if Lilly really crams from now on, her parents will in return help protect the climate. From now on, only fresh food will be cooked at home, lavender will replace industrial washing powder and you can go to work by bike! There are only exceptions for little brother Tom. But the road to an emission-free life is not a sure-fire success. After weeks, agency owner Nina and chief physician Martin are not only looking for secret exceptions to the rules, but also get into discussions about their lives up to now. And since Lilly doesn't quite stick to the deal with her parents either, the initially abstract discussion about climate-friendly living escalates into a true family crisis.

When Mara flees from the military dictatorship in her country of origin in Latin America, she leaves a lot behind. Twenty years later, mother and daughter are living in Berlin when an amnesty and compensation for the exiles are announced. The events and the reunion with an old acquaintance awaken fears in Mara that she was able to suppress for a long time. She relives the past in vivid nightmares.
