This film, the first ever to chronicle Lowell George's life, music and career, uses archive footage and interviews of and with Lowell and Little Feat, plus contributions from many of those who knew him best, to visually recount the sometimes ecstatic, other times tragic life and times of this maverick genius.
Captain Beefheart Under Review documents the career of the unique musician. The film combines performance footage by the man and his various back-up players along with interviews by colleagues who illuminate aspects of some of the songs and offer testimonials on the genius of the artist.
In a small town in the 1950s, Ellie Dane loses her musician father, and her mother suddenly turns away from her. She finds solace in wise jazz singer Hattie Cale and learns that she's inherited her dad's skill at the piano. But she also begins to uncover dark truths about her family's past and the reason for her mother's emotional distance. A rich jazz score accompanies this moving drama.
After signing her divorce papers, a woman heads out to her Minnesota airport with her sister and daughters for a flight to her mother's home. At the airport, her sportswriter husband shows up to catch a flight to Miami to visit his father. When a blizzard hits, the two suddenly find they have time to re-evaluate their relationship with assistance from an older couple.
