Anna and Edith are colleagues at an insurance company. Their male chef uses the women's business success to his own advances. Anna's husband would prefer her to be at home. Anna and Edith become a couple, but it doesn't end with a romantic rendez-vous. Together, and with the help of their female colleagues, they want to improve their work conditions.
In contrast to his successful brother Ernst (Heino Ferch), Robby (Sebastian Koch) dropped out of teacher training early and ekes out a living as a taxi driver. When Ernst emigrates to New Zealand to find love, Robby spontaneously takes on his brother's trainee position.
Yasha is a Jewish stage magician who tours through eastern Europe while destroying his career through personal problems. He has one more chance at theatrical success, but he needs to do a brand new trick in a Warsaw theater.
