Berlin in the golden 20s. Like no other, the singer and cabaret artist Claire Waldoff found the right words for what the so-called “little people“ thought and felt. Her heartfelt songs with heart and snout triggered storms of enthusiasm and made Claire Waldoff famous. Kurt Tucholsky gave her the nickname "Sparrow of Berlin". With the beginning of the 1930s and the Nazi regime in Germany, the popularity of the Berlin original declined.
Kasperle and a group of his puppet friends prepare for his grandmother's birthday-but a little green devil threatens to intervene. He steals the donuts for Kasperle's grandmother, and the other puppets chase him to get them back...
A grandfather builds a giant kite with his grandson, but first time they try to fly it, they are pulled up into the sky! Grandma is worried that the pair will catch a cold during their flight and insists on sending warm winter clothes up to them. Chimney sweeps, crane operators, police officers and fire fighters come to help her, and by the time Grandpa and his grandson land at the airport, they are greeted with enthusiasm by a crowd.
