The young officer Count Yorck von Wartenburg - he bears one of the most famous names of the German past - awaits his execution as a participant in the conspiracy of July 20, 1944. Von Wartenburg, together with his comrades, suffers infinitely long days of terrible torture, disrespect and humiliation as a death candidate. In a dream, he experiences his escape and the real continuation of his fight against fascist barbarism, for which he must detach himself from his class and is involved in the anti-Hitler front by communists and the Soviet army.

Factory workers Yvonne and Evchen have their nose full of married men who appeal to them again and again in their home for a short adventure. In short, they decide to profit from this state: Evchen goes to her home with the willing men and puts her in a clear situation of which the then suddenly emerging Yvonne takes a photo. Before his death, he bequeaths his unfinished novel to his friend, the famous writer Frank Seburg, and asks him to complete the work he started. Frank Seburg examines the materials collected by Rohmann. It turns out that the journalist was trying to uncover the mystery surrounding the deaths of several West German officials. According to the official version, they all committed suicide. Seburg was unable to fulfill his friend's request to reveal the true causes of their deaths. The fight against the followers of fascism proved too much for him.

In 1944, SS-Obersturmbannführer Becher arrives in Budapest in order to obtain material for the Waffen-SS. At the same time, he starts to gather private property by offering an insidious choice to the corporation′s Jewish majority shareholder, Dr. Chorin: Either Chorin assigns the company to Becker "on his own free will" – thereby obtaining the permission to travel abroad - or he his family will end up in an extermination camp.

A boastful miller pretends that his daughter Marie can spin straw into gold, and so she is locked into a room full of straw and ordered to spin it into gold by the next morning. A little man appears and offers his help in exchange for Marie's necklace. The greedy treasurer makes Marie spin twice more until the only thing she has left to give the little man is the promise of her first-born child…

An old ruin serves as the favorite playground for Christine and her friends. It is also the home to a pair of storks that have built their nest there. When the ruin is meant to be demolished, Christine is eager on rescuing the helpless baby storks that are not yet fully fledged.

A film about the historical uprising of the seamen in Kiel: During the Russian October Revolution of 1917, German and Russian soldiers start to solidarize with each other. By disarming the officers, machinist Henne Lonke and stoker Jens Kasten prevent the attack on a Russian freighter.
