Gurukiran Shetty is an Indian music director, singer, and an actor popularly known for his work in Kannada cinema. He made his debut as a musician in the Kannada film industry in 1998 with the movie A directed by Upendra. Gurukiran won the Best Music Director Award at the Udaya Film Awards of 1998 and since then has delivered several hit albums. He won consecutive Filmfare Awards for the movies Chitra (2001) and Dhum (2002) and also won the award in 2004 for the movie Apthamitra (2004). In 2005, he achieved a milestone in his career after the audio album sales of the movie Jogi reached an all-time high in the Kannada film industry. In 2011, Gurukiran won the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Music Director for his work on the soundtrack of the movie Mylari (2010). Besides achieving success with music, Gurukiran is also an actor and has appeared in several films including a noticeable role in the movie Nishkarsh. The musician-cum-actor is also a singer and has delivered several hit songs such as Banna Bannada Loka and Kanasina Maratta. In 2017, he composed the music for KM Chaitanya`s drama movie Aake. His 2018 project includes the romantic comedy, Sankashta Kara Ganapathi. His 2019 releases include Dasharatha and Aayushmanbhava.
