Registration of the play that opened the Holland Festival in 1980, written by Wim T. Schippers. Mr and Mrs Schaambergen receive two free tickets to a piece of modern art.

Joep is a piano tuner, and not the best in his profession. His fiancee ends their relationship and Joep wants to end his life. Then he meets Dorien. They fall in love, but they must deal with some issues from the past--like an ex-lover and a hitman.

Playwright and director Nils Wijn brings his relationship issues to the stage. In his play "The Whore, the Virgin, and the Dying Man," he has his girlfriend Tessa appear in revealing lingerie and takes her to a real prostitute for some practical lessons. This is too much for the actress. Their problem turns out to be contagious, as other members of the theater company also get into arguments with their partners.
