Martha is locked up in a mental hospital by her own husband, who covets her fortune. At some point, however, with the help of her husband's brother, who studied medicine abroad, she escapes and returns home to see her daughter. He accepts the co-operation proposed by Carl - to become his agent - to supposedly trap the guerrillas. But he actually misleads the conquerors about blowing a munitions train.
