Following the death of her wealthy husband, American widow Kathryn West migrates to Italy and takes up a reclusive existence in a luxurious villa. After quickly succumbing to the charms of a local man, she lets him move into the villa and the two are later joined by his sister, which soon leads to complications.

Police are in hot pursuit of a criminal who is evading capture on a speeding motorbike. He takes refuge in an overgrown castle’s grounds and sees a pale woman burying a corpse in a shallow grave. Thirteen years later, after being recaptured and serving his sentence, the man returns to the castle, intent on blackmail — and maybe a few other things.

When sheriff Joe Williams is unjustly accused of the murder of a young couple, which was in reality committed by the Mexican "La Muerte", Joe becomes a wanted man. Joe manages to steal and hide the loot from a bank robbery committed by the Mexican gang, but then is captured by them, but the new sheriff, Joe's friend, is on their trail.
