The Boy is not broken during the beating, but afterwards he falls into apathy, refusing to leave his room. Teresa talks to him emotionally, threateningly, logically - but to no avail. When she tells him that he will not get up, he gives her a cruel order...

The young crane-operator lives in a small larder-room, where he has to hang his chair on the wall and the tap drips. He has to share his mornings with his two dream "man-hunters", his father and his brother, who feel that he does not belong to them because of his desires and ambitions.

The heroine of the TV movie based on Imre Sarkadi's short novel is a coward to accept the duties, struggles and struggles of everyday life. Giving up her desires and plans, she floats aimlessly in her luxurious surroundings, in the hated company of the famous artist husband. His willpower is only for pointless heroics. He is incapable even of the sincere and profound love that gives hope of a meaningful and happy life.
