Daniela – a single mother, whose boyfriend left for the US – believes wholeheartedly in Cuba's revolutionary new order. Meanwhile, in Florida, a plot is afoot. Under the command of an American officer, four Cubans ex-patriots and a Guatemalan land on the Cuban coast to prepare a US invasion of the island. Daniela's superior, the corrupt Cuban officer Palomino, is secretly helping the invaders and the young woman becomes entangled in the intrigue.

On one very fine sunny day, a fourth-grader Thomas, as always, is out of the house in the morning to get to school by subway. But on this day he has a too good mood and that, along with the good weather, prevents him get to the lessons. He decides to skip his station, and take a walk through Berlin.

Inge Karsten receives an unexpected visit from her former student friend Margit from the West. She is even more surprised to hear that she is married to her stepbrother Herbert, who was long thought to be missing and whom she had almost forgotten. He last lived in Canada. This presents Inge's husband Horst, who has an important job as a military pilot, with a conflict of conscience. The situation is even more serious than it seems at first glance. In truth, Margit is an agent and the whole story is a staged game by the West German secret service...
The Ruhr area in November of 1918. 13-year old Achim Wolters and his friends get their hands on some potatoes on the market. They want to surprise Achim′s father, who works on a mine sweeper boat, with a decent meal. But Achim′s father does not show up – an informer at the train station has betrayed him for his left-wing beliefs and has turned him over to the police. The priest tells Achim the sad news and advises him to pray for the release of his father. But when carpenter Stelzebein stresses that everybody has to take actions for himself, the devout boy at first does not believe in Stelzebein′s words. But then Achim witnesses in the prison how brutally the imperial police treat his father and the other inmates. Together with his loyal friends, Achim takes Stelzebein′s side. When the revolution starts, they stand together on the barricades.

Fred works as an engineer and a test driver at a car company. His girlfriend Petra is a car mechanic - actually an ideal combination. However, the old-fashioned Fred is less than thrilled about his girlfriend’s "male profession". In his opinion, the masculine job damages her femininity. Since Petra is unwilling to give up her beloved job for such stupid concerns, there is a lot of friction between them. It is not until Petra turns the heads of all the men at a fair that Fred realizes how absurd his objections really are.

Christine is a young farm worker in a small village in post-war Germany. Her attempts to improve her situation through further education are hampered by frequent pregnancies arising from ill-fated relationships.

Czech tourist Jelinek decides to take a ride on the "Ferris wheel" in Berlin, and as a result he lags behind the train and is left without his belongings and documents.

Lothar, Olaf, Bob and the other pioneers have the task of looking after the castle above the town. However, they mainly get up to mischief, which is why the town fathers take the job away from them again and even exclude them from the upcoming 800th anniversary celebrations. The boys hold a council on how to recapture the castle. Legend has it that the Hussites from Bohemia once stormed the castle and they, who see themselves as their descendants, want to do the same. Olaf is in favor of the violent way, but Lothar and Bob are not. They convince the others that good work is the better way, repair the castle ramparts and dig everywhere to find the hitherto missing proof of the truth of the legend, the presence of the Hussites. They actually succeed. They are restored to their former rights and are of course allowed to take part in the celebrations.
