Sokor, struggling with an addiction to alcohol, tries to defend a man accused of murdering a hairdresser.
The main character is Bogna, a thirty year old woman lost in her surrounding reality and unhappy in her private life. After her husband departs for a foreign scholarship, Bogna learns that her mother died. The trip to her hometown for the funeral becomes a voyage in time, during which she relives the memories of her idyllic childhood.
Professor Damrot and the children come to a land that is not on the maps. At the same time, the little witch is given a task to protect this place from tourists.
Set at the turn of the century it presents a story of a famous Polish athlete, Zbyszko Cyganiewicz. It begins in a small town where a traveling circus attracts a shy boy into a phony wrestling game to please the crowds. The youth, however, takes his strength seriously, eventually defeating a name wrestler in a fair match. Angered circus manager fires him; he leaves happily due to two wrestler brothers who were harassing him. The wrestler goes on to fame, performing in the world's top arenas, and one day is serenaded by a tenor from the crowd. Fame brings him women and admirers but he is uncompromising on his profession. He has his revenge on one of his tormentors defeating him in the ring. One day, attending a game in a tuxedo, he is challenged by another of the brothers and drawn into a brutal game, in course of which he kills his opponent. Thus his career ends.

Muskrat family Serafin, Melania and their children are spending the winter in Wicker Bay with their rat Archibald. One of the first winter nights is just approaching. Snow is falling and the world takes on fairy-tale colors and shapes. Archibald decides to pay his neighbors a visit. In a warm, cozy burrow, he recalls past adventures and events from his lush life. He begins to spin a tale from his time living in the city. He talks about his rat friend Hubert and working together with him in a large supermarket. The rats undertook a great and responsible mission. Hubert and Archibald, at night, when the store was deserted by the crowds of customers and the staff employed there, would go out to the big sales floor and sample the goods sold there. They did this for the sake of consumers, so as not to expose them to the consequences of buying expired products.

The writer Jan Kellert - the author of the widely known book "The Legend of the Vistula", which is part of the canon of pre-war middle school reading, comes from Lublin to Żmurki, where he spent the occupation. The division of the Żmurki estate is to take place the next day. The welcome dinner becomes an opportunity to exchange political views and a critical view of the manor's inhabitants on the current situation.
