Set in the middle of a breathtaking South Dakota landscape, a love affair between Dong and Laurin, two women of different backgrounds buds, flowers, and fades.

Eiko, a Japanese American teenage vampire, suffering from agoraphobia caused by the trauma from the night her family was murdered and she was turned, is unable and unwilling to leave her family’s home. And she not only loses track of time, but time itself. Eiko spends most of her years avoiding others and trying not to live life as a vampire, but the world won’t leave her alone.

The relationship between two neighboring farm families are strained when one of them chooses to lease their land to an oil and gas company. In the midst of growing tension, the land is drilled, and something long dormant and terrifying, deep beneath the earth's surface is released.
