A man and woman meet during the identification of their spouses' dead bodies, following a car accident. It turns out that the they had an affair with each other. Feelings like jealousy, shame, wrath that struck them at the beginning, leave their place to understanding. The man and the woman start seeing each other. First, they hesitate to start an affair, yet later they cannot control their feelings. They unite in a love affair, not caring about the values and judgments of the people around them.

After the First World War, the Allies occupy Istanbul. The protagonist, Yandim Ali is a rogue, discharged from the navy, who doesn't believe that the country can be saved, until he meets Mustafa Kemal (Ataturk), who plans to start a resistance in Anatolia against the occupying Allies, as well as the collaborators of an Ottoman government, that exists only on paper.

The movie takes place in the kitchen of Cankaya Mansion on Sunday night, October 28, 1923, a day before the proclamation of the establishment of the Republic of Turkey and formally marking the end of the Ottoman Empire.

The young man, who was constantly subjected to injustice, pushed around, and spent his youth in prisons, saw his every attempt at redemption shattered. The story of an unhappy gambler whose life was spent in prison, and a woman who escaped from a brothel and sought to return to an honorable life.
