Documentary on the work of Helena Almeida, a plastic artist that, since the end of the 60s, has developed a body of work in which she explores the limits of self-representation and the frontiers of the different mediums she uses, be it painting, drawing, photography or video. "Pintura Habitada" focuses on the several phases and elements involved in the creative process through which Helena Almeida constructs her works, from the first studies to the exhibition of the completed work.

Originary from France, the "Tchiloli or Marquis of Mântua Tragedy" theatre was introduced in the African island of São Tomé in the XVIth century. Music, dances and suits are added to the renaissance text, turning this spectacle into a hybrid cultural manifestation. The Tchiloli, performed by amateur groups, integrates only men that are prominent figures in certain quarters of the island. The most popular and traditional group is the "Formiguinha". In this company, the main roles are transmitted from generation to generation. The oldest members try to keep the tradition within the family.

In the summer of 1870, Raquel, who owns a farm, and lives secluded in her mansion with an old butler and a handful of servants, feels proud when an odd acquaintance comes by. Adriana and her daughter-in-law, Ermesinda, a very young girl, just happen to be visiting - the second time in 15 years for Adriana, and the first time for the teenager Ermesinda. The meeting seems to be pleasant, and yet, for reasons untold, there is coldness and reserve between Adriana and Raquel. Their ambiguous relationship will be revealed, when by accident old wounds are reopened.
