Fourteen-year-old Ivan runs away from an orphanage to pursue his dream at a pioneer camp he learned about on the news. Arriving there incognito, he creates an entire media organization within an already entrenched system, without which internal order cannot exist. The Artek International Children's Center has always been a land of sunshine and loud laughter, but these camps will be special. While an obsessed astronomy professor scours the surrounding area in search of a fallen meteorite for long-awaited glory, inexplicable things begin to happen at the camp. One by one, the most active children turn into "shadows": they lose interest in games, friends, and life, sinking into a frightening apathy. A group of teenagers uncovers an incredible truth: aliens are lurking within the camp, literally draining the children of their joy and happiest memories.
