Ana Argento, an accomplished cartoon artist yet frustrated with her relationships, meets two other lonely characters with peculiar lives. Daniel Torres is a sociopath and rapist coroner. Tom is a chronic cataleptic who ironically is a life insurance salesman. They could only meet in one place: the morgue.
In Curitiba, a university professor begins researching the Spanish flu. As he gathers photographs, testimonies, and fragments of memory, the investigation starts to slip out of control. Amid immigrant voices, archival images, and echoes of a haunted city, the past returns as an enigma that refuses to fade.
An astronomer is forced to leave the city where he lives in order to save his relationship. He ends up returning to the place he never intended to come back: The small town where he was born, stage of a great childhood trauma. Once there, he will discover the truth that will change his life forever.
