A photographer in late 19th century England arrives at the estate of her latest client where she discovers a deeply unsettling secret.

After suffering a personal tragedy, and desperate for justice, Jacob Kanon, a veteran New York City police detective, embarks on the search for a twisted killer who is leaving a bloody trail of elaborate murders across Europe.

Younes, known as Taxi, finds himself trapped and powerless in his own home in Morocco. His wife, Samira, has seized total control over his life and that of their children. Tensions run high between Taxi and Samira’s family, especially with her ruthless nephew, Ashraf, who has sworn to kill Taxi from their very first encounter. Ashraf sees Taxi as a significant threat due to his (yet unsigned) statements to the Dutch police. Samira agrees to eliminate Younes, the father of her children.

The narrative unfolds in the 14th Century, when the European nations vie for supremacy within the Holy Roman Empire. The ambitious Austrian Empire, desiring more land, invades neighbouring Switzerland, a serene and pastoral nation. Protagonist William Tell, a formerly peaceful hunter, finds himself forced to take action as his family and homeland come under threat from the oppressive Austrian King and his ruthless warlords.
