A veteran actor and theatre personality, Dwijen Banerjee was known for his work in the Bengali film industry. Best remembered for his performance in the ETV Bangla's comedy serial Chuni Panna, Dwijen has a number of television shows and plays to his credit. While he was actively associated with television shows, he was part of certain theatre groups in West Bengal and has plays like Amritakkhar, Ghora, Samabartan, Balidan, Abhimukh, Dashchakra, Mallabhumi, and Mushtijog to his credit. In 1992, the actor had also formed his own theatre group, calling it Sanstab. Making his debut in the film industry, Dwijen was seen in the 2004 romance Sudhu Tumi, following which he was associated with movies such as Autograph, Ashchorjyo Prodeep, Phoring, Shajarur Kanta, Jaatishwar, Badshahi Angti, and Benche Thakar Gaan. On 27 September 2017, the veteran actor died of a cardiac arrest at the age of 68. His final film Bhalobashar Bari was released posthumously in 2018.
Shudhu Tumi is a 2004 Bengali film directed by Abhijit Guha and Sudeshna Roy, produced by Sagar Bhora and Siddhartha Bhora, and starring Prosenjit Chatterjee and Koel Mallick in the lead roles. Zubeen Garg composed the music.

Jeet and Raj were invited to a party of a non-Bengali business client of Jeet, where Raj flirted with the businessman's daughter Inca (Neha Panda). After party, both the friends bought drinks from closed shops and drank in the open. Both of them wished they had each other life. After getting up from sleep, both of them found that their soul has interchanged. Both of the friends were surprised to find themselves in that situation.

Inspired by this Graham Greene quote, "Podokkhep" is the story of an unusual bond between a retired man and a 5-year-old girl where he rediscovers life in his twilight years through this friendship.
