Mother Teresa of Calcutta, one of the few canonized saints of our day, is discovered through the eyes of Kavita, a young Englishwoman abandoned by her boyfriend after she’s found to be pregnant. Kavita journeys to Calcutta to escape her pain and soon discovers that even holy people like Mother Teresa have to face life’s challenges and, in fact, struggle through years of spiritual crisis known as the “dark night of the soul”. Inspired by Teresa’s example of perseverance and compassionate love, Kavita rediscovers hope and purpose.

The film chronicles the journey of a genius filmmaker who loses his creative side. Interestingly, his creative stream of consciousness is brought alive by the motley crew of his associates from the ashram he lives in.

As they prepare to celebrate their wedding anniversary, politically committed professors Hari and Ramona receive a group of unwanted visitors claiming to be from a central intelligence agency. Dressed in white hazmat suits and wearing multifaced masks, the team of men and women raids their house, traumatising the couple and taking away their hard drives. The professors contact the police, but when their friends and acquaintances doubt their claims, Hari begins to break down.

The story revolves around a 13 year old Guddu who works as a helper at a tea stall. His father, an ex musician is a penniless alcoholic, and his mother a singer has abandoned the family. Therefore, he has to take the responsibility of his family at a tender age. Music is his passion, he loves to observe, listen and create new tunes. On his daily chai delivery visits, he watches a wedding band practice keenly, completely losing the sense of time. He has a desire to join the band one day. Along with Guddu, the film also tells the tale of other street children who work near Guddu’s tea stall. One day while wandering in the city, they come across a carnival where they see an orchestra performing for money which inspires them to form their own band. Atkan Chatkan shows the dreams of millions of young children who do not have the means but only a burning passion that needs careful nurturing to grow and succeed in life.
