Family Struutz lives in Bitterfeld (GDR). After the fall of the wall, they take the opportunity to go on holiday with their car, an old Trabant. They simply want to visit Italy. But there are some incidents during their journey.

But eventually Anna finds happiness too, because Jan's handsome boyfriend Kai turns the wheel of fate. Because car dealership owner Brausewetter is in financial difficulties, he quickly discontinues the small bus line that he runs on the side in the Harz Mountains. Drivers Benno and Axel are out of a job. But then Benno's deceased aunt leaves him a million euros. The bus driver wants to use it to take over the line himself...
