1987, Vienna's Favoriten district, the new home of 12-year-old Vlado. Having grown up with Czech television, he immersed himself in the world of Western films, devouring one VHS tape after another. After being diagnosed with cancer, Vlado made his first short film.

Thumb wrestling coach Coach Steve and his new protégé are battling for the Austrian championship. Coach Steve wants to take advantage of his last chance at a title. However, the competition seems insurmountable.

The semi-documentary film contains fictional scenes as well as archive footage of the life and work of the Archbishop of Vienna, Cardinal Franz König (1905–2004).
